I've been going back and forth over whether to give this book three or four stars, because for me this book is in the middle somewhere. I really enjoyed it but it was very different to what I was first expecting, but in a good way.

I thought it was going to be focused on general school life and about the play/musical the girls were going to be putting on, but it turned out very differently indeed. Yes, it did look at the relationships between the girls, their schooling and the show they were taking part in, but it was about so much more than that.

I don't want to put any spoilers into this review because I wouldn't have liked anyone to have spoilt it for me, but the main character is going through a lot of things, as is her best friend. It was a brilliantly written insight into the life of our main character and I think this could be considered a great coming-of-age story, especially for anyone who is going through similar events that happen in this. It's also great to see another book with LGBTQ characters.

I enjoyed how it was written in short chapters, which I didn't think I would like at first but I really think it helped to story along to have certain bits in short bursts. I was also confused by the fact that there were not any chapter numbers but I soon got over that because the topic of the story is way more important than having chapter numbers!

Overall, it was a really good book and I'm so grateful to Readers First for sending me this book to read and review. It's a 3.5 star rating from me.
