My first impression of this book is that it is absolutely gut wrenching! I instantly empathised with Marin, particularly because most of us will have experienced that earth shattering feeling when our children, siblings or younger loved ones have slipped out of our sight. The scene where Marin discovers her son has disappeared evoked a physical reaction in me that very few thrillers do - my heart was pounding! I can't wait to continue reading this book, it was a phenomenal opening in my opinion.
The cover also lends itself well to the thriller/mystery genre as it elicits a rather ominous feeling.
