The first paragraph expertly gives the setting and the first scene introduces the main characters and dives straight into action. That sounds forced and artificial but, on the contrary, the story whips you along and you feel the emotions as Jennifer Hillier reminds you of similar situations and feelings in your own life. The cover doesn't seem to belong and the contrasting colours are almost lurid.
