Every parents nightmare plays out at the start of this book. The loss of a child in a crowd, which is heart stopping bad enough, but then to find out that that child was in fact taken by somebody else, how could any parent cope. Well for Marin she very barely does. The reader sees her life falling apart ,slowly and watched with sympathy as she tries hard to cling to herself through depression and suicidal thoughts.
When she finds out her husband is having an affair, her character takes a very different turn. The narrative is beautifully crafted, showing up the intricacies of all the characters, showing everybody as flawed in their own ways, and building up the audience and drama as the story unfolds. A truely fantastic read for thriller fans.
