I'd like to start off by thanking Readers First and the team at Corvus for sending me a book to review. I have been itching to read this since I got the email saying I had won a copy!

Marin had everything; the love of her life was a successful millionaire, their home was straight out of a Pinterest board, her businesses were booming and to top it all off - her son was healthy, happy and her pride and joy. However, one Christmas market trip strips that all away from her after her beloved son, Sebastian, is snatched from someone dressed as Father Christmas. As her nightmare unfolds, Marin's world comes tumbling down. Her mental health decreases, her husband starts cheating on her, and her obsession with finding her son stretches beyond the FBI's limits. But it isn't until her husbands' secret affair is exposed to her, that Marin finds herself getting more answers than she bargained for...

Little Secrets was not only shocking and thrilling, but it also bought me to tears at one point. The plot was truly fleshed out, with a variety of shocks and twists that truly made me gasp. With a reasonably small cast, it was easy to engage with the characters and really feel for them, making it harder to put the book down every time I tried.

Marin and Derek are a typical rich couple, and Derek's mistress is a typical college Instagram-lover. So, I was originally a little worried that they would become too predictable and sometimes find myself rolling my eyes at some of the things they said or did. However, Jennifer Hillier continuously raised the bar with the plot throughout the novel, that it inevitably made the characters bearable.

Overall, Little Secrets had the 'perfect' thriller recipe. It was shocking - gripping me with a nightmare that no parent should ever have to go through. The characters did terrifying things in order to protect the ones they love, and above all else - the pacing and timing of the novel matched perfectly with the plot. 10/10!
