Not really my thing
I’m instantly put off by any comparison to JoJo Moyes, so that wasn’t the best of starts, but this whole ‘travel to discover yourself and/or your estranged loved ones’ sub-genre really doesn’t work for me.
The first page of the extract is missing, but it seems we can expect lots of flitting between past and present as we learn about the characters and their relationship. Unfortunately my first impression of them was pretty negative: we seem to have the stereotypes of vacuous risk-taker and her uptight counterpart. I’m sure they will grow and develop, but I won’t be taking that journey with them.
