I was intrigued by the story of the sisters, their childhood, and what happened to their older sister, and was interested to read more. However by half way through the book, I had no empathy for either of them, wasn't much wiser about the back story and found the repetitive theme of "if you were a (insert thing here) what would you be?" to be tedious. I really wanted to understand more on the sisters' childhood and why they had such a detached relationship earlier in the story, which would have helped me be more in their side, rather than find their actions frustrating and predictable.
This is a good chick lit if you want a simple beach read. Having travelled to a lot of the places referenced in the book, I found the most interesting parts to be those that sparked my memory of travels.
