A lovely tale of two sisters united in their grief for the sister they have lost, but not really united in much else. Lottie is measured, calm and rational, Tina is spontaneous, erratic and occasionally mean spirited. Shortly before Lottie’s scheduled wedding the pair take off on a road trip across America to find a resting place for Mia’s ashes. On the way they have several adventures, mishaps and times of strife, but they both learn a great deal about themselves and their sister. This is an emotional journey as well as a physical journey.

The characters Madeline Reiss has developed are believable and relatable, her light prose and the mystery of Mia’s death keeps the reader turning the page. You could call this chick lit, but it’s not empty and meaningless, it’s a lot of fun and the lessons learned by the sisters stay with you long after you close the book on the last page.
