This is one of those books which I enjoy more thinking about afterwards than actually reading at the time.
Having read, and loved, two of Madeleine Reiss' s books, I had high expectations of Live A Little.
The story is about two sisters, Lottie and Mia, taking a road trip in Western
USA, shortly before Lottie is due to marry history teacher Dean. The trip has been arranged by Mia with her PPI windfall for 2 reasons - one to check that Lottie really does love Dean enough to marry him and two to scatter the ashes of their elder sister Mia who died three years previously and had as a child loved cowboy films.
The book is a mixture of travelogue and chic lit. It was no surprise to learn in The Inspiration Behind Live A Little at the end that this is exactly what it was - a part humorous, part serious story melded around an actual diary that Madeleine kept when she did a road trip with her sister many years previously.
Having actually done a similar tour myself, I was probably more interested in the itinerary at the time of reading the book, but on reflection, I did enjoy the somewhat contrived plot as well.
