Tina and Lottie may be sisters but they’re poles apart in terms of personality, neither of them can understand the other and both are frustrated by the others behaviour so a fortnight together on a road trip through America would never be straightforward especially considering Tina plans on dissuading Lottie from getting married in a few weeks time....

I found myself more empathetic towards Lottie than Tina as Tina is written how she is - spiky and doesn’t let people in whereas Lottie has more gentler flaws and comes across as a general nice person. There’s some great detail about the American scenery which makes you feel you’re taking the trip with them. I enjoyed this overall however some parts of Lotties behaviour didn’t ring true and I don’t believe Tina would behave as manipulatively as she did. That said the relationship between the sisters was acutely observed and the other characters we encounter throughout the book (except Stacey, she was just strange) help shine a light on the sisters and pull them together as characters
