I really enjoyed Kate MacDougall's memoir about her dog walking business in London. Kate writes in an amusing style and I enjoyed the way the book is set up in chapters relating to the dogs themselves and how many experienced she was in dog walking.

Kate is very insightful and I really enjoyed learning about the way people live according to how they treat their dogs and all the different breeds of dogs owned and their characteristics.

I was really interested in the social commentary of the time too of how having a dog walker was seen as a sign of wealth becoming very popular and then the effect of the recession on many of her clients who suddenly found themselves at home more often. I have never owned a dog but this really gave an insight into how lonely dogs get at home alone all day when the owners are at work. It would be good to read if you are considering getting a dog to see how much love and care they need and what a commitment they are. It made me really think about how all the dogs that have been bought during lockdown will cope once life opens up again and their owners are no longer around in the home all day.

This was a really enjoyable read and at times very moving in the relationships with some of the dogs especially the wonderful Stanley.
