This is an enjoyable read especially for those of us who like dogs and recognise many of the incidents Kate MacDougall experienced while caring for other people’s pets.
The cover of the book is eye catching and the title too - very reminiscent of Alexander McCall Smith’s Ladies Number 1 Detective Series but I’m sure he won’t mind.
This memoir tells about how she came to leave a job she hated at Sotheby’s and set up her dog walking business, through the 2007 recession, which it barely survived. Each chapter concentrates on one particular dog and their owner. These are very entertaining - tales about Dolly and her mega rich owner,The Principal, or Winston who has to split his time between his two dads when they separate. In 2014, Kate relinquished day to day control and moved to Oxfordshire with her family much to the relief of her mother.
Unfortunately, this book was spoilt for me by the many careless typos which I found distracting.
