I have to preface this by saying I’m not really a dog person, and yet I was drawn to this book.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and I think this is largely due to the author’s ability to make the mundane interesting, from simple descriptions of the sights and sounds of city life to detailing a dog’s personality.

This book was finished in just a matter of hours, I really enjoyed the chapter headings and the tally of the dogs walked.

The author has successfully managed to pair snippets of her own life intertwined with cheerful, charming and refreshing stories of her dog walking adventures, it is very well written.

I liked that some dogs were recurring characters over a number of chapters, and in particular, Stanley was a favourite.

The book is a realistic and reflective snapshot of the author’s life and I think the personal, down to earth milestones and panicked thoughts are what make this book so endearing.

I would encourage everyone to read it, even if dogs aren’t your thing.
