I really liked the concept of this book, the title being a spoof of the famous No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series of book, and I got the impression from the start that it was a light hearted book not meant to be taken too seriously, but also exploring the idea of doing what you love in life and not staying with a job you hate. Doing a job that brings you joy will make you want to go to work and not dread it everyday. The cover of the book is beautifully illustrated with iconic images of London and really eye-catching if you saw it in a bookshop. Since author Kate MacDougall is an expert in dogs, writing for the likes of the publication Horse and Hound, and owns two dogs herself, we know from the start she is an expert in the subject. The fact that each chapter is about a different dog and their story is an unusual but really affective structure, and it allows us to delve into their individual life for a little while and learn about their own characteristics and personalities, as much as the dog walkers themselves. A thoroughly enjoyable read.
