My interest piqued as soon as I read this title. With dogs at the heart of the plot, it is a coming of age story that channels a woman’s life as she navigates a career change, setting up her own business, hitting major milestones in life, meeting an array of colourful personalities that London harbours, both human and canine, whilst documenting each experience with a beautiful nostalgia that cushions the reader in a familiar warmth for those who have ever lived in the City themselves. Even if you never lived in London, you will relate to the canine affection which binds the chapters together. The kindness between each sentient being and how a simple act can make a life so fulfilling is moving. The story runs full circle, and I was sad when it ended. If you have questioned orthodox areas of work and desired job satisfaction, this one is for you too.
