Smooth escapism, beautifully crated.

The bright Mediterranean cover is inviting, (although I didn't like the pink title - too "girlie") and its a clever theme, going somewhere you have always wanted to visit after reading the books by the Durrells. The prologue is so sad, I'm sure we can all relate to the tragedy of the painful death of a parent - the story can only get better from here - and it does! The smooth relaxing style of writing leads you cleverly into the plot, clear enough not to miss it, but not so obvious to bore you. "Going back" to anywhere, even if it is going back to a 1930s as discovered by someone else, is usually a mistake as so much changes. I found this a relaxing read, the plot takes place pre-covid of course, and makes me see how much freedom we have lost...hopefully only for now. A lovely book, I want to go to Corfu now, and also to see what happens in Penny's search.
