This book follows Penny who goes to Corfu for a month following the death of her father and breakup of her engagement. She goes to visit areas of Corfu that the Durrells lived in, as she and her dad loved the books. It was interesting to read Penny's journey around Corfu and to see how this helped her to process her grief and the loss of her father.
As well as Penny, there are a variety of other characters that you get to read about and I enjoyed reading about their lives and how they were all connected. I did sometimes find it confusing as to whose perspective I was reading at some points when it changed quickly and some of the characters had very similar names which were hard to keep track of.
The book is also a love story (or multiple love stories if you include the other characters) and I enjoyed reading about the different romances occurring throughout the book.
