This book has come out at the right time of the year, the summer, because in my opinion , it is a great summer read. Although it does start off being a bit depressing with the events that were taking place in the main characters life.
At the start of the story Penny was having to cope with her father being very ill and then dying, alongside relationship problems with her partner Bruce. While Penny needed help and support with what she was going through with her father, Bruce was behaving like a spoiled selfish child, and after her father died , the couple parted ways.
This breakup and the upset with losing her father made Penny re-think what she was doing with her own life. So she planned on a long trip to Corfu. She decided on Corfu as a destination because she had childhood memories of reading books about life on Corfu that were written by the famous Durrell family.
While staying in a small village in Corfu, Penny made lots of new friends and got involved with the local way of life which was so different from what her life had been like before.
