Although not a novel I would generally read, the bright front cover drew me to read the extract and the title intrigued me wondering who the durrells are.
Penny has had a tough time what with the decline and eventual death of her father coupled with leaving a fiancé who was self absorbed. This trip means a-lot to her, being one she should of taken with her father. With that in mind I can imagine this novel being extremely emotional and wondering what this beautifully described landscape will reveal to her. Given what she has already endured I hope she finds the experience she longs for and maybe even a little romance from the mysterious man at the welcome buffet.
The authors writing style is beautiful and for those like myself who have never been to Corfu can close our eyes and envision what it would be like to step off a plane and take in this sun kissed landscape. Likewise imaging the friendly locals who embrace and welcome tourists like family, a culture unlike our own.
