I remember watching the Durrells series on Netflix not long ago and I'm delighted to find how this book is linked to Gerald! I love Penny and her father's relationship and how they used to talk about visiting sunny Corfu! I can picture the beautiful island in my mind's eye (aided by the show of course.) It was devastating to find her father was diagnosed with cancer very sad to read. I love when characters use their imaginations and it was such a tenderhearted way to end the prologue and begin the novel. I'm not a fan of Penny and Bruce's relationship 👏she👏deserves👏better👏 but hopefully that will change on her trip! I like how her dad is referenced when she is making decisions such as the thrill of flying and she has a chance to recall precious memories no matter how somewhat embarrassing they may be. Lastly I love that Penny is a keen reader and also rereads series! Thank u
