Melanie Hewitts book Looking for the Durrells is outstanding!
The book follows Penny who sets off on a month long trip to Corfu as her father who passed away who had a love for the Durrell books. It shows how penny copes with the death of the father and how grief affects everyone differently. As well as how her past relationship effects her. Including how she can develop herself and grow as a person and find real happiness within herself.
I think for people to really enjoy the book they need to have a love for the Durrells and Geralds books such as “my family and other animals”. But apart from that I really enjoyed it as a nice summer read, taking me to Corfu during covid times. Dreaming of the sun! It also makes me want to rewatch the Durrells and relive the nice times.
I hope that Melanie Hewitt writes more books about this kind of topic as they are really nice to read!!
