This light, hopeful and romantic read whisks you away to sunny Corfu.

The island is brimming with the sounds and smells of summer (and the book abounds with gorgeous sensory descriptions, especially when it comes to the food)! It is also home to the legacy of a family of famous artists and writers, The Durrells, whose books and pictures are the reason that Penny, the protagonist, is first drawn there. Eager to work through her grief at the sudden loss of her father and fiancee, Penny begins a journey of self discovery, and meets a fantastic found family on the way.

This book is an advocate for rest and self-care, and dwells on the importance of finding what you want and fighting for it. It's filled with heart, warmth and friendly strangers, making for a brilliant home-getaway.

I personally would have liked a little more fleshing out of the multiple romance plots and the ending – I'm far too curious to be left wondering! – but this was made up for by the sweetness of the friendships developed throughout. If you're looking for a beach read that will leave you smiling, I recommend Looking for the Durrells.
