I really enjoyed reading this book. Penny, disappointed in romance and grieving the loss of her beloved father, travels to the Greek Island of Corfu to search the homes and loves of the Durrels. Her and her father used to share a love of the books and stories written by Gerald, Larry and Margot.

The first half of the book I found really well written and was able to visualize the island, the scenery and the romance. However during the second half the story centred mostly around the totally expected developing love story between Penny and one of the other characters and personally I found this unoriginal and less inspiring than the first half. The search for the Durrells and their homes became less important which I feel was a shame as it held so much hope at the beginning.

Having said this I enjoyed the book, but more as an easy read chick lit which I am sure that the author did not intend.
