Looking for the durrells is a slow paced, sweet book. I feel it would be more poignant if the reader had an understanding the Durrells, whereas I do not. The book does not really delve into their history so you learn little about them. However they are central to the theme of the book so I was expecting to find our something more substantial.

I loved the character of Theo, an exuberant little boy who loves life. All the characters were likeable apart from Bruce.

The story is slow and predictable but well told. The characters are lovely and being you into their world.

No surprises, no comedy, no heart wrenching moments. But a gentle, slow, heart warming tale of love, loss and rebuilding.

It does make me want to visit Corfu however as the scenery is beautifully described and sounds idyllic!

I am glad Penny has found peace and happiness, who knows where it will take her next.
