I can see what the author is trying to do here but I am not entirely convinced that this doesn't make things even more divisive. We do not live in a world that is perfect and barriers exist along the lines of colour, race, religion, sexuality and so many other things that are ultimately meaningless as we are all Human Sapiens.

I think we are supposed to find it refreshing, as Westerners, to read about Racism from an immigrants perspective. Instead I fear that it will feed in to the knee jerk reactionaries on both sides of this particular hatred fence.

I do hope to be proved wrong so I am going to spend some points and order this book in the hopes that the book blurb and the opening "letter" from the author do not subsume what could be a well told coming of age story.
