This isn't the usual type of book I would pick up. I'm not a massive fan of contemporary reads however, I'm trying to read more diversely this year and this is one I've seen recommended a lot. The tag line recommends it for fans of The Hate U Give and that was one of my favorite books last year and this really piqued my interest. By the sound of the synopsis this is going to be a hard hitting story that's completely relevant to today's society. I read the first look and just from the first couple of chapters I can see that I think I'm going to really like the writing style an the main character. Diverse stories like these are so important nowadays and I will definitely be looking to continue with this one. It's now well and truly on my radar.
