JUST LOOK AT THAT COVER. I’m all for the don’t-judge-a-book-by-its-cover adage, but the fact remains that whoever designed this cover deserves some sort of congratulatory recognition bonus because WOW, that is GORGEOUS. In an gorgeously clean and minimalistic chic manner, the cover design brings to life some sorr of joy and exuberance that the story appears to hold. I have no doubt that it would jump off the shelves immediately, catching the eye of any passing reader.

Onto the book itself! As a Muslim, I find the prospect of this book incredibly exciting. There are far too few Muslim voices in fiction - particularly YA, and as a result, Muslim teens are underrepresented in literature. The very existence of this book makes me happy as to the progress of diverse publishing. The sneak peek offers an engaging insight into the world of Love, Hate, and Other Filters - and this contemporary voice brings to the table both important issues and light-heartedness in a seemingly impeccable style. My regret is that, despite its literary excellence and my excitement, I don’t feel it has gripped me completely or gauged my attention enough - and had I not been tempted to read further, I would have succumbed to DNF it. I am however looking forward to reading the entire book and hoppefully being proven wrong in my personal tastes of the development of writing!
