Amazing! A wonderful book and a good read. As the author states, this book was written out of hope. And that perfectly sums up my opinion of the book. Samira Ahmed has perfectly captured the significance of hope, throughout the story. As a British Asian, I can fully relate to Maya and her struggles to balance two very diverse cultures. This is very evident in the first chapter itself. The author is one of my personal favourite author ,who is a magical writer, blending philosophical language with the finer tones of the story.
Emotions are perfectly captured! Reading this makes me feel quite good to see that there are others in a similar situation.Juggling different sets of norms and values, especially between the Eastern culture and Western culture in a lifestyle context has to recognised to be a harsh reality.
