This was a really great book that deals with so many important issues that are severely lacking in representation in YA fiction. Our main character struggles with the daily trials of being a teen but she must also face being the only Indian Muslim girl in her small town. While this is story does give us a hard look into our society today it is also a story about a girl finding out who she is while still wanting to respect her culture and her parents.
There is more of a romance aspect than I expected but it was a nice lighter piece to read alongside the heavier parts. I also really enjoyed the paragraphs at the start of the chapters detailing the investigation and things that are linked to the terrorist attack. Reminded me a bit of "The Rest of Us Just Live Here".
