Love, Hate and Other Filters starts with our protagonist Maya being dragged to another Indian Wedding. From the outset you can sense her desire to break free from the cultural traditions of Arrange marriages and successful careers of Doctor or Lawyer. Maya wants to make films and within this first chapter you hear her talk so much about this love.
There is also a beginning of a potential budding romance between her and another character which I think broke up nicely the description of the wedding and the cultural traditions. One thing I really liked from this small chapter preview is the snippets of information such as Bride and Prejudice poster, the intertextuality and name dropping of songs and other films which I know myself which help build a bigger picture for the setting of this book and Maya's character.
I can't wait to read more and see what happens.
