Honestly, I am concerned that there are lots of books out with 'alternative' family styles, trends and ins and outs, and this can lead to stories like this being overlooked as downright 'blah'. It makes it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. I do occasionally like to dip into books that don't require a massive amount of thought.
However, I do feel that the added perspective of this family unit having an autistic child might tip the balance in its favour - I'm hoping this is written with emotion and accuracy.
