M is for Mummy is a light hearted, funny and down to earth story of Lucy, a mother of two, balancing motherhood, her career as a cellist and her marriage.

This is not normally my type of book but the opening pages are funny and I felt it deserved a proper chance, I wanted to like it more than I did.

This book feels like it is authentic in how it is written: like the author has experienced or closely witnessed a similar life/lives.

Whilst this is a heart warming tale and a nice book, I did struggle to continue reading at times and found myself drifting off. The story tells a lot of the day to day hilarities and mundanities of parenting. Whilst these are often funny and very relatable it meant that this book was just a bit too much like normal life and didn't provide the escapism that I want from a novel.

This book does not deserve a bad review, it is nice, funny and well written. It is just a bit too close to normal life to make it desirable for me personally, simply because I read to be taken somewhere else.
