I was disappointed in this book. I really super enjoyed the first impressions and was looking forward to reading about a dysfunctional family, the highs and lows of motherhood with a child on the spectrum....but it just didn't give me that wow factor that it promised to have.
I have a very good friend who has a child on the spectrum, and my god does she have it hard! And although the author described in detail how frustrating and wonderful it can be to have a child like that, I felt it lacked the emotional horror of finding out your child isn't like everyone else, and the sheer scariness of what would now be the new normal.
However that said, the sprinkling of humour was good and we've all been there when you are desperately trying to get your life back after having a child. It's definitely an upward struggle and a shock to the system that's for sure!
