What a cracking start! I was instantly drawn to the cover and as a child growing up in the ‘70’s I just had to take a look; I wasn’t disappointed.
From the first sentence, I was instantly transported back, Ruth’s writing is so evocative of the time. Her characters, the way they speak, the sights, sounds and smells are so descriptive and creatively written that I enjoyed immersing myself back into, what now feels like much simpler times. I can’t wait to read the rest of this book, I’m intrigued by the story and look forward to being young again, just for a while !
