I’ve read several Ruth Hogan novel’s and her characters always feel so real which is part of the enjoyment for me. When I read the vivid premise for Madame Burova it set my imagination firing and sounded like a simply beautiful story. As soon as I started reading I found it easy to envisage the 1970s Brighton setting and idiosyncratic family of Madame Imelda Burova. The dual timeline appeals and I can’t wait for Billie’s full story to be revealed.

A perfect bit of escapism that I would love to read.
