I knew from the first sentence I was going to enjoy this book but what I didn't realise was how many names were going to appear so early on. In the first sixteen pages there were at least sixteen names mentioned and for a story the was moving between between the 1970's and the present day this was a lot. I was confused and nearly gave up but I knew once I got my head around all these names I would enjoy the book so I started again with pen and paper noting names, job titles, relationships and years. Then I started to enjoy it. The characters are wonderful and vibrant I felt as though I was on Brighton Pier and all the other places with them. This is about Madame Burova and a secret she has held onto for many years. It is about Billie who has just found out the biggest secret of her life and needs to know more. It is about friendships and family. It is a beautiful story and every character is worthy of their place in this wonderful book.
