Whilst this book originally lulled me in with its cover alone, I was very pleasantly surprised with the book overall.
Not my usual type of book to read - surrounding the life of a tarot reader - as I have no interest in that area, but it kept me entertained and interested to the end.

Fantastic writing was the winner for me, I think. I enjoy reading about people's lives (real or fake) and seem to really enjoy stories involving the mundane, and am especially interested when the author is able to present the mundane in an exciting or different manner.

I have never read this author before, but really enjoyed her writing style - the story had some beautifully written scenes and it helped create this 'holiday at the seaside' feeling to the book - I don't really know how to explain that... It was lovely.

The only drawback I found was that the book flipped between present day and the past - whilst this wasn't handled terribly - it did become confusing at times - especially when you have to keep track of a large swathe of characters - we could possibly have trimmed the fat here.
