Engaging Read
‘Madame Burova’ is an engaging book with an interesting concept. This is my first book by Ruth Hogan and I enjoyed the way it was written. I especially liked the way the chapters were flipping between years, I felt that this really added to the story. Throughout this book I changed my opinion several times about what the outcome would be, so it was like a continuous guessing game which again I enjoyed.
What I liked:
- The descriptive writing, on many occasions I could see the characters and imagine where they were
-The use of the different years between chapters, this really added to the storyline
-Imelda, I loved this character and the mysterious element to her
What I didn’t like as much:
-I felt in some places it became a little repetitive
-I felt I wanted to know more about Vivienne’s character, as much as she was a disliked character (by me) I felt I little more depth could have been useful
Overall:
I rated this book 3 stars, it’s not my usual genre but I did enjoy it. I would recommend reading it and I would definitely read more by Ruth Hogan.
