I really enjoyed reading this book. Madam Burova wants to retire after 50 years on the Brighton Seafront but first she must keep a promise that was made years ago that she has been keeping secret. Billie has lost her job, her marriage has ended and her parents are dead when she finds out something about her identify. To find out more about her parents she ends up meeting Madame Burova. This story is set in present day but goes back to what actually happened in the early 1970s. It really gets you gripped into both storylines as you find out what happened 50 years ago and how Billie finds out more about her roots and uncovers more about herself. The story is full of wit and humour but also delves into the sexism and racism that was around in the 70s era. The characters are interesting and you can really picture life at the seaside. Would recommend.
