his book is everything you want a novel to be. Lots a likeable characters, a few fairly uncomplicated villains, an ending that you think you should have seen coming but that you hadn't wanted to overthink in case it ruined the journey. You get chance to learn a bit about a different culture and way of life, and experience a nostalgic time that with hindsight seems more straightforward than the present day. Hogan is a great writer and you can almost smell the Brighton salt air in the pages.

I'd recommend this to people who like Maeve Binchey and other storytellers about times in people's lives where a lot changes, while making it seem easier and more enjoyable than those times in real life! There's grief involved for the characters but somehow that doesn't distract from the comfort, pleasure and joy of reading about them. And I also love that the author thanks reviewers in the acknowledgements!
