This is a lovely story set in England alternating between the present day and the 70s.
Normally I find these alternating timelines quite jarring and confusing but I must say that so far I find it very interesting. It shows Madame Burova as an actual person with a past and interests etc.
I love the way the 70s were incorporated with the music and societal and cultural references really sucking you into the story. I find that showing madam Burova as a young hip fresh faced character really nice.
I love the historicity of this book (as a self described armchair historian) and it would be very interesting to read more of this story! I’m also really excited for the events of this story to unfold and discover more of Madame Burova’s life.
And can we talk about that cover! I love it! It’s actually what drew me to it in the first place.
