An emotive and beautifully written portrait of the 1970s, of lost love and the search for who we are.

This is the tale of Billie, a woman who has recently lost her parents and on their death discovers a huge secret about her identity. The drama of this opening event pushes the plot forward and creates a curiosity to establish the truth.

The narrative flips between the present day and the 1970s, in some novels this can be an irritation, but here it is relevant and moves the story forward without losing the readers sense of time or place.

Interspersed with Billie’s story is Madame Burova - Imelda - a tarot card reader who has a fantastic skill at accurately predicting people’s future. Her own love story is heartbreaking and beautiful in equal measure and the authour keeps us guessing right until the end about how Billie and Imelda are connected. You won’t be disappointed.

I received an advanced readers copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
