This was very different to anything else I've read and I found the descriptions of Romany culture and fortune-telling, especially the tarot cards, really interesting. Ruth Hogan has clearly done her homework on that score.
There was quite a large cast of characters which I did find a little difficult to follow at first, and there is a lot packed in here. However, I did love some of the quirky and eccentric people you meet in this book and just wished there had been a little more time or space to get to know them better. I would be happy to read a sequel that further explores these great characters.
The burning questions were the driving force behind the plot and the reason I read this quite quickly but the scene setting was well-delivered too.
Overall an enjoyable, light read (despite some sad and bittersweet parts) with an uplifting feel. This would make a great holiday read. Thank you for the ARC.
