What a lovely read this was! I admit it was the cover that made me so intrigued in the first place, it had quite the element of mystery to it which fits nicely with the theme of the book. Madame Burova is the story spanning fifty years - we first meet the main character Imelda Burova in the 1970's when she is just starting out her career as a tarot reader, palmist and clairvoyant in Brighton. We meet many characters along the way and find out that Imelda is keeping a lot of secrets which people have trusted her with other the years.

Fast forward to the present day and we meet Imelda again who has two envelopes to deliver to Billie who lives in London and is seeking a fresh start. Billie begins to question her identity and Imelda may just be the person who has the answers.

I truly loved the characters in this book and found it such an uplifting story. I liked that the chapters were quite short which made it a fairly quick read because I was also so engrossed in it. This was my first read by Ruth Hogan but I enjoyed it so much that it definitely won't be my last and I'll be looking out for her other books now!
