No spoilers! The novel spends a lot of time alternating between the 1970s and the present day. I was looking forward to being able to immerse myself in a time gone by, which I do remember well, and taking a bit of a trip down memory lane. This was fulfilled to a certain extent with references to the day and the lifestyles of the time. However, I did find that the dotting between multiple characters, some of which were fleetingly mentioned made it difficult to get a grasp of what was going on at times and it took me quite a while to form any sort of bond with the main protagonist. Also, I felt that some of the happenings drew upon inconsequential events and I felt that they were being used as 'fillers' and brought nothing to the table. Nonetheless, I was sufficiently engaged to want to know more about the plot which was hatching and am pleased that I read the story to the end.
