I haven’t read much of Lionel Shriver’s work but the cover of this one would definitely catch my eye and make me look twice.
The concept of the story is interesting and scarily doesn’t seem too far fetched. For me, the writing style felt stilted and clunky, it didn’t seem to flow. Whether this was deliberate or just me, I don’t know.
I couldn’t really connect with the characters and I would have liked some more detail on them, however maybe this happens as you read more of the book.
