In the not too far off future society has succumbed to the regime of Mental parity that brings all levels of people down on the same level playing field.
Words like stupid, dumb, dim, idiot, thick are all banned.
Everyone no matter the blatant truth is just as clever as the next person.
Leading to a vast disparity between their skill levels and ability to cope with different tier jobs.
Pearson is uneasy with this kind of control and dares to speak out.
Jeopardising her relationship with her childhood friend, Emory.
Emory is going along with the system and actually getting by in life whereas Pearson's outspokeness is causing her personal problems in her family too.
This is a scary novel and reminiscent of literary works such as 1984.
A novel that makes you think and ponder society, where we are going that even in literature these thoughts are being put forward within a story.
A very deep novel that makes you question and analyse the world around us.
A really good read.
