The graphic of this really caught my eye, it’s a really intriguing cover and it tempted me to try a book that I probably wouldn’t have considered otherwise. I loved the premise of this and the first few chapters featuring the cracks starting to show between Pearson and Emory with Pearson deriding the new regime and Emory embracing it. After it rewound to Pearson’s youth I did lose some interest as, whilst I appreciate it added context to the characters, it wasn’t the element I was most interested in. The language in this challenged me, to be honest it risks most readers feeling.. dare I say stupid? I did like the turn of events as it progressed further as it is definitely one of those books where you have no idea where it’s going to go and it certainly made the point! I found myself thinking about this for a few days after as the concept really resonated even if I did find it a challenging read, it’s certainly worth persevering with anyway.
