When I first started reading this book I was very open to where it might lead. My initial thoughts were that it could go one of two ways and either be the story of a woman standing up for human rights against fierce opposition, or it would be a thinly veiled, piece of anti-diversity propaganda. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the latter. In fact, I got so frustrated with this book that I was unable to finish it. The arguments are skewed, and basically flawed and what could have been a very interesting concept turned into a rant about the main characters hurt feelings. I found it deeply uncomfortable to read. Ultimately it brings to mind anti-trans campaigns but since when did the consequences of letting someone live out their lives as their true selves lead to such disastrous consequences. I fear this book may find its audience and lead the author to enjoy shouting angrily into an echo chamber of her own making. I would not recommend this book at all, in fact I would actively discourage people from reading it.
