Honestly this book intrigued me a lot, and when I started reading it, it was initially interesting, then it sounded like a Reddit post in all honesty, but then it got VERY interesting again and I finished it very quickly. I felt the book had a very slow pace at the start, and the middle gets even slower, however the last third of the book is where all the real stuff is concentrated.
The premise of the book is very interesting: what happens if we ban words that diminish other people's intelligence, like stupid, idiot, etcetera? With modern times where we learn to not use words that were used offensively or derogatorily in the past anymore, the idea that this book brought forward was what if this went beyond changing our vocabulary? It highlighted the intrinsic faults in American culture, with heavy emphasis on Americans worrying more about catching people saying the wrong thing then actually solving big problems that affect the entire country and its population. It was interesting to see an alternative world from 2010, and shows how people follow the herd mentality to not be left out, and how important it is to hold onto one's values when the rest of the world's morality is collapsing and corrupted.
A good thought-provoking book, and it kept me gripped quite a lot.
